Project Background
Nestled along the stunning coastline of Pāpāmoa, this beachfront retreat is a testament to the seamless collaboration between architect, builder, interior designer, NZWindows and client. Designed with the sophisticated tastes of its retired owner in mind, this luxurious home exudes elegance without being ostentatious. It’s no wonder it garnered both a Regional Category Award and a Gold Award at the 2024 Master Builders House of the Year Awards. A key component of its striking design is the joinery supplied by NZWindows, which played a crucial role in bringing the vision of John Little and ADG Architects to life.
Design and Execution
The exterior boasts beautiful cedar-batten cladding and Eurostyle Spanlok that harmonise with the coastal landscape, creating a modern aesthetic infused with a nod to the past. Inside, the band-sawn panelling continues this refined detailing, while Haro engineered flooring adds warmth to the predominantly fresh, white decor. NZWindows was selected for its extensive product range, known for durability, energy efficiency, and sleek design.
Pivot Front Door
As guests step inside, they are greeted by a striking pivot front door installed into APL Architectural Series joinery, an impressive feature that elevates the entrance with a touch of sophistication. This entrance is further enhanced by a thoughtfully designed staircase that leads up to it. NZWindows installed the framing for the pivot door, ensuring both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
Metro Sliders
The home is adorned with floor-to-ceiling Metro Series sliding doors, strategically positioned to maximise natural light. These doors not only bathe the interior in sunlight but also create a stunning visual connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces, framing breathtaking views of Pāpāmoa Beach. The Metro Series emphasises clean lines and contemporary elegance, making it a stylish and durable choice for both residential and architectural applications.
Casement Windows
Throughout the property, the client selected casement windows (side-hung opening windows) as a feature over regular awning (top-hung opening windows), further enhancing the home’s aesthetic and modern functionality.
Outcome
This beach house exemplifies how NZWindows’ products can elevate a build. Its award-winning status is a testament to the successful collaboration among all parties involved. The homeowner was pleased with the final result, overcoming design challenges to fulfill her vision.
