Bruce Tod

I’m currently the Group Sales Manager at NZWindows in Tauranga, I joined NZWindows in May 2017. I have spent 29 years in the Glass, Window and the construction industry, predominantly in New Zealand with offshore stints in the UK and Canada.

Originally from the Waikato, I left school in 1990 to take an apprenticeship in “Glazing” (Flat Glass) culminating with a trade certificate in 1994, this spawned my life as a “glass head”. During my O.E 1997-2001, I spent time working with a frameless glass construction specialist, outside of Vancouver, Canada. This opportunity saw me develop a foundation knowledge and skill, and “nerdy” in complex glass structures. Returning to NZ, I specialised in this field within the Auckland commercial market from 2001–2016.

The last 11 years of this I spent inside Metro Performance glass, NZ’s largest glass supplier where I received a business, leadership and manufacturing education. I held several middle and senior management positions within Metro with the last 4 years of my tenure running Metro’s Auckland commercial business, delivering multimillion-dollar commercial façade and glass structure projects. I was also lucky to work across the country and the business as part of the wider North Island management team. With trips to Fiji, Europe and China looking at product, plant and equipment.

My wife and I relocated our family to Mount Maunganui in July 2016, mainly to escape the intensity of Auckland life and ultimately “live the dream”. I am a keen surfer and snowboarder and still can’t believe I put my wetsuit on in the garage and cross the road to surf! Outside of work I am involved with the Omanu Surf Lifesaving Club, helping run the junior surf programme and as a coach.
