Project Background
Winners of Regional Gold and a Regional Category Award at the House of the Year Awards, this striking Rings Beach home makes the most of its sloped, beachside setting. In collaboration with HAMR Home and Studio 77, NZWindows proudly contributed to a project where mid-century modern design meets the natural beauty of the Coromandel Coast.
Working throughout the region, HAMR Home regularly takes on builds in challenging yet spectacular locations. This home is no exception—nestled between native bush and the Pacific Ocean, it was designed to complement, not compete with, its surroundings.
Spanning both single and double levels, the home offers three generous bedrooms, three bathrooms, three living areas, and extensive outdoor spaces. NZWindows was proud to help bring this vision to life, ensuring the home is not only beautiful but also suited for modern family living and entertaining.
Raking Windows for Coastal Views and Natural Light
At the heart of the home lies a warm, oak-floored kitchen, made even more inviting by high raking windows that frame the landscape. Raking windows are designed with a sloped head that follows the roofline, adding a unique architectural feature to this home. Installed by NZWindows, they create a dramatic sense of openness, drawing in the natural light and coastal views.
Sliding Stacker Doors to Maximise Indoor-Outdoor Living
To maximise connection to the outdoors, sliding stacker doors were installed, offering wide, uninterrupted views of Rings Beach. With slim, modern profiles, these doors enhance the indoor-outdoor flow, making the home ideal for coastal living. They operate smoothly, provide flexible ventilation, save space, and withstand the demands of a beachfront location.
Creating a Coastal Home in Harmony with the Coromandel Landscape
Every feature of this home was carefully selected to elevate the coastal living experience. From raking windows to expansive stacker doors, NZWindows contributed to a home where light, landscape, and design work in harmony.
