WHAT TO EXPECT AND FAQ

Thank you for choosing NZ Windows to be part of your project, at NZWindows all our joinery is made from APL extrusions that are made in NZ for NZ conditions from 100% virgin Tiwai aluminium. Our joinery is generally thicker and heavier duty than our competitors, you can feel the quality difference when operating our window and door systems.

This is a list of commonly asked questions from NZWindows Clients when buying across our range of products. This isn’t an exhaustive list and answers can vary depending on the window suite involved.

Our joinery is very customisable with many options available as standard but there are some limitations to our ranges, such as heights and spans in varying wind zones. Please speak to your Sales Rep if you have special enquiries.

Q: “What is the process?”

  1. Request a quote from either a site visit, a consultation or quote from plans,
  2. Select the Suite and options that suit you best
  3. Finalise quote details,
  4. Both parties sign the agreement, and we schedule the job,
  5. Site measure concluded “As made” schedules completed – delivery countdown begins*.

Most jobs require a final site measure before production, this is the last chance for changes before production.

Typically our delivery times are 3-4 weeks from site measure, provided all the details have been agreed and signed off. We prefer to accept the job into our schedule 6 weeks prior to delivery.

*Changes to “as made” schedules will cause delivery delays and additional costs.

Installation times may vary talk to your builder.

Q: “Can I choose my own colours?”

Popular, intermediate, performance, premium, decorative, woodgrain and annodised.

There are approximately 35 Colours in the popular range, colours and finishes are dependant on the properties your build requires i.e., Duralloy is standard, Duratec durable coatings (ideal for coastal buildings) are available in many of
the popular colours but not all. Ask you sales Rep for a list or brochure.

Many of the Dulux powder coat colours can be matched to the Coloursteel range for cohesive aesthetics. Custom or special colours can be produced, there are volume, cost and warranty limitations for this.

Q: “What options are there?”

Typically, your joinery quote will include the frames, glass, hardware, and a choice of the popular colours.

Options include parliament hinges (for open out doors on brick or poly wall cladding), holdbacks for open out doors, flush floor sills (for rebates), performance glass, tinting, electric window openers, pool safe hardware, electronic entry hardware.

Talk to your sales Rep and they can show you options and either include in a quote or offer pricing options.

Q: “Can I have rebates of flush sills?”

Many products can be rebated however rebates are best suited to sliding doors and least suited to open in doors.
Pricing will vary depending on the sill finish and depth of rebate (size increases).

Q: “Do you offer supply-only contracts?”

Yes, we can supply only.

Q: “Can I lower the specifications to save money?”

Yes – if there are no requirements or standards in conflict.

Q: “Do you offer a guarantee?”

Yes, NZWindows and our system suppliers offer a comprehensive warranty, these vary by product.

Q: “Can I make variations and upgrades?”

Joinery is a bespoke and customisable product. Typical low/no cost changes include – handing of doors and windows (left to right etc), open in to open out, restrictor stays, removing vision rails etc.

Changes requiring a price variation include, size increases, adding opening windows (sashes), other configuration changes, upgrading hardware, tinting, performance glass.

Changes are more costly after site measure and “As Made” schedules are complete and will add time delays.

Q: “How do I pay for variations?”

Either by Price Variation or added to your quote in most cases where we have not invoiced. If we have invoiced the main job we will invoice when we have completed the work.

Q: “How will my windows be delivered?”

We provide one driver to help you unload but you or a designate will need to be available to assist. Please check your quote to see if delivery is included (it will be one of the last items on the schedule), if not included it will be Ex factory (pick up). Talk to your Rep if you require a change.

You should expect a call the day before your delivery is due with an estimate for either the morning or after lunch the following day.

Q: “What if there are issues with my joinery?”

NZ windows have been in business for over 27 years and we stand by our work. Issues can arise from the factory, installation and from being part of a construction zone.

We have a service team and we aim to attend service calls in 10 days or as soon as possible when parts are on order.
We prioritise security and weather tightness service issues.

Q: “What are your payment terms?”

Our general sales terms are 50% deposit on acceptance and the balance within 7 days of delivery.

Q: “Do you do finance or payment options?”

No, but Builders can apply for a builders account, this removes the need for a deposit.

Q: “Why does my deposit not show on my invoice?”

To ensure our accounting and GST are correct we need to invoice the whole value of the job. Your statement will
show all payments including deposits. Please subtract the deposit from the final invoice value to settle your account.
